Like the color and poly response of the string.
Quadro Twist is my best string for high school players. Power, spin, and control. Plus no arm pain! I will go through reels of this during a season.
Strung at 45lbs in a 2023 Pure Aero. I am impressed and enjoying it. Might go a few lbs tighter (thinking 48) but I liked it enough to order a reel already.
My go to string. Easy and controlled spin. Has a launch angle a touch higher than round strings but allows you to access spin. I play with a full bed and even after 9 months i wouldnt consider these strings as dead. They have almost become a round string by this point and they still have great snap back and will almost not let me miss.
Great control string that really opens up the more you play with it. For being shaped it has a low launch angle with exceptional bite on the ball. Allows for high spinning rally balls and slaping one flat for a winner.
Quadro and the Square sets are, at least for me, the best combination of feel and spin. As a dude who played in the late 70s and early 80's, I tend to hit the ball flat and very hard. I have been working on gaining more net clearance and this combination has been the best combo. I have tried over 20+ other combinations over the past three months and I'm really happy now.
Full disclosure – I received my set of strings as a free playtest set from Ivor
Typically, I play with a natural gut or multifilament full bed of strings (Babolat X-One Biphase @ 50 lbs in the mains, 48 lbs in the crosses), but occasionally when I feel like experimenting, I’ll put poly in my crosses @ 46 lbs.
When Ivor reached out, I indicated that I preferred multifilament strings because they were softer on my arm, and he said that the Quadro Twist Black was a very soft co-poly. He was right! The Quadro Twist Black was probably the softest string outside of multifilament or natural gut I’ve ever used, so I would definitely recommend them for people who like soft strings, and especially for people who want to try a poly, but don’t want the harsh feel.
For me, I felt like they played somewhere in between a multifilament and a poly. Not as much spin as a full poly, but more than the multi. Also, I felt like I got less pop than multi, but more than a poly. Compared to natural gut, the Quadro Twist Black felt more muted, but were a great control string.
Love this string. I have now more power and depth on my ground strokes and my second serve. My backhand slice looks quite serious. In addition, my elbow took far less stress than usual. I can highly recommend this string
I had previously gotten XL shirt, but it was too small. So this time I ordered 2XL and it fits like a tent. I love the feel and material of the shirts, but sizing is definitely an issue.
My 15 yr old son has switched to square x and has been really pleased with the results. Very comfortable but still has a good crisp feel. The over grips are great too! Would highly recommend.
Tested the Quadro Twist so far and loved them! Great feel, power and spin!
I've been introducing the ProTour Blue to my stringing customers and the feedback has been very positive. Great soft feel and good snapback. Perfect as in a hybrid or as a full bed. Definitely worth a try.
I like using the ProTour as a cross string in a hybrid stringing for a few reasons: offers nice comfort, allows good snapback and seems to amplify what the main string is there to do. Of course the benefits of Y-Tex strings in general are all there too! Great value and above average durability, plus there's real people to offer advice and ask questions of, winner products from a winner company!
Strings pull together — is it something unique to these strings, or something I did in stringing?
Love the feel, spin, and durability of the Quadro Twist string. I strung it at 42 lbs on my Wilson Ultra 100. (To avoid elbow problems, I generally use a soft poly and string it as low as 40 lbs. I had some concern initially with using 42 lbs. but after using it a couple days, my elbow is fine.)
So I tried out the Square X Sharp and Quadro twist ( have reviews on those) and both amazing for different reasons. I honestly did not really want to bother trying this one out but since I had it I was like ok but how good can this one be compared to the other 2. Boy was I really surprised by this one. First thing is I put the tension at 40 lb as I heard this may be a little stiffer. Not even remotely Stiff. This one is super soft ( I felt softer than the other 2 actually) possibly the tension but other 2 were only a few lb heavier. I string low. I literally kept tyring to hit the ball out on purpose and most of the shot would just drop in over and over. I thought I was crazy. I had my wife try it ( she plays with Nat gut) I told her swing as hard as you can see where this lands, she had the same results she was like wow this feels amazing. Not as much spin as the other 2 but it has plenty IMO. We had her use it in a Friendly doubles match and God honest truth the first 3 games she played were the best I have ever seen her play. This string has a boat load of control and I like it better than the Quadro twist and about the same as the Square X sharp. My wife took this string to her Pac Sun Match and won yesterday was super consistent. I do not know if she will switch from Gut but I am trying to convince her for the fact this one she played better than , its less expepnsive by far AND IT feels amazing. I got the red version of the string. If you want control and plush feel and to be able to swing for the fences even at a low tension, this one does it all. Going to try a couple other POLY but this one or Square X sharp as of now will be my go to string unless the next string I test feels better ( hard to imagine) Happy Hitting!
So I posted a review on the square x sharp so I wanted to post one on the flagship string they have. Quadro Twist right off the stringer played better than anything I have tried and I have tried a ton of not just poly but hybrid, full multi, etc. It was soft on the arm, spin was super easy to generate. I played a few matches with it and for me personally it did not have quite the lively feel I personally love. I felt Square X sharp has a more lively feel, but Quadro twist a little more muted and not quite as powerful for me personally. However, for bigger hitters than I am, you would probably prefer that feeling. I am giving this 5 stars becuase even though it is not the perfect string for me, it can be for other style players that like that feeling. It does everything it advertises the spin is silly you can get on this and it is one of the most comfy poly I have ever used. Give it a shot cant go wrong with it. Happy Hitting!
I play tested this string for about a week or so now and they do exactly as advertised. Soft on the arm but not mushy, actaully its got a nice crisp feel for me ( I did the tension low at 40) and the spin and control are still excellent. I have had elbow and wrist issues and had gone away from Poly strings and finally decided to give this one and 2 of their other strings a try. Quadro Twist ( will review that one separately) also a good string and Hexagon X ( thought this one I would not care for) will review as well next. (My wife Favorite) To Summarize the strings do what they claim and people just need to try them out. I have not noticed a drop off in play at all BTW which for POLY is a great thing. Happy Hitting!
Had to pay 60£ for getting the strings from the post office, for VAT and customs, these costs were never mentioned when submitting the order. I informed Ytex that it’s not normal for the end user to support these unannounced costs, but didn’t receive any response
It may be the "feeliest" poly - but, good heavens, nothing like a multi filament. After a full bed NXT 17g, this "feels" like a piano wire. Strung it at 45 lbs - vs 43 for the NXT. Maybe if dropped to 38, it might be better. This would GIVE you elbow problems.
My hardhitting daughter has been playing for years and we've never really found that set of strings that would make her say 'I love these!' until now. The strings are super easy on the wrist and elbow while not sacrificing any power and greatly improving control/feel. Customer service is top notch. I called and was ablet to talk to a real pro, not just any old sales associate.
I put these strings in the racket of one of my high school players. He immediately fell in love with them! He commented on the feel and texture of the strings and how much more bite he felt on the ball. I can't wait to get them in my racquet next!
